CAMELEON FOURTY S is a shade on its own, not a finished lamp. It belongs to Nowodvorski's Cameleon system, where the luminaire is assembled from parts bought separately: the canopy, the suspension with its lampholder, and the shade. Here the shade is a straight tube of painted steel in terracotta, open only at the bottom.

What is in the box and what you need to add

The box holds two things: the shade and the instructions. The suspension and the bulb are not included, so both are chosen separately. The manufacturer specifies one CAMELEON CABLE suspension with a GU10 lampholder for this shade.

The bulb has to meet two conditions. Power is 10 W at most, and LED only. The size is GU10 R35, a bulb 35 mm across — the common GU10 with a 50 mm reflector is wider than the tube itself and will not go in.

How big the shade is

The tube is 12.3 cm tall and 4 cm across, and weighs 0.16 kg. It is the smallest size in the FOURTY family: the M version is 30 cm at the same diameter. It ships in a 5.5 × 5.5 × 14 cm box weighing 0.17 kg.

The steel is opaque and the opening is only at the bottom, so all the light goes downwards in a narrow beam. At 4 cm across this lights one specific spot — a worktop, a table, a console — rather than a whole room.

Finish and colour

The shade is steel painted terracotta, a brick orange close to fired clay, with a matt surface. The shape is modern in the catalogue sense of the word: a smooth tube with no ornament and no visible joints.

The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only and makes it in Poland. The Cameleon system was designed by Łukasz Jaworski and Borys Nowodworski. The same shape is available in the FOURTY family in other colours and in the longer M version.

This lampshade is a separate system component. To build a light, choose a compatible pendant cable with lamp holder, a suitable ceiling canopy or an adapter intended for your arrangement, and the mounting accessories needed to route the cable. The remaining components are selected separately.
