This is the shade alone, not a complete lamp. LASER 1000 belongs to Nowodvorski's Cameleon system, in which a luminaire is assembled from separately bought parts: a canopy, a suspension with the lampholder, and a shade. To make this shade light up you also need a CAMELEON CABLE G9 suspension — it is not included, and neither is a mounting kit or a bulb.

The form

The shade is a slim painted-steel tube: 100 cm long and just 2.5 cm across, open at the bottom. It reads as a vertical line hanging in the air — hence the name LASER. Light leaves only through the lower opening, in a narrow beam falling straight down. This is a tool for accent, not for lighting a room: hung over a worktop, a kitchen island or a console, it draws a small, sharp circle of light on the surface.

Choosing the bulb

The holder in the suspension takes a G9 cap at a maximum of 10 W, LED only. An ordinary halogen G9 is ruled out here — a 2.5 cm steel tube cannot carry its heat away. Nowodvorski goes further and, given such a narrow body, recommends lensed G9 sources that concentrate the light into a beam instead of scattering it against the tube walls; the manufacturer points to its own items 9173 (3000 K, warm white) and 8447 (4000 K, neutral white). With an ordinary omnidirectional G9 bulb a large part of the output will stay trapped inside the shade.

Compositions

LASER is made in three lengths — 490, 750 and 1000 mm — and that is the point of it: several tubes of differing length, hung from a shared canopy at different heights, make a rhythmic composition in space. Nowodvorski publishes a Cameleon configurator where the parts can be assembled before purchase and you can check how many suspensions a given canopy will take.

Build

The tube is powder-coated steel in beige; the manufacturer gives the paint reference P038, so the colour can be matched exactly when further parts are added later. The same shade also comes in other Cameleon palette colours and in a SOLID version.
