Outdoor Wall Light NORLYS Bern 650ST stainless steel E27 clear glass

Bern 650ST is an outdoor wall light built as a flat, square stainless-steel plate carrying a convex cover of clear safety glass, wrapped by two horizontal steel bands. The base of the light is powder-coated cast aluminium. The bulb is visible through the clear glass, so the lamp you fit decides how the light looks when it is on.

Dimensions and mounting

According to the manufacturer's drawing the light is 24.5 cm wide and 24.5 cm high and projects 12 cm from the wall – compare the square with the free space beside the door or on a balcony pillar. It weighs 2.88 kg, 3.42 kg packed. It is fixed through two ø4.5 mm holes at 170 × 50 mm spacing.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and loop-through wiring to the next light up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so several wall lights can share one supply line. The cable must have a round sheath of 7–10.5 mm diameter. The light is protection class I and needs a protective earth.

Light source

Inside is an E27 holder for an A55–A60 shaped LED lamp of up to 9 W. The bulb is not included, and the user replaces it without a service visit. You choose the colour and brightness when you buy the lamp: around 800 lm matches an old 60 W bulb. To order, Norlys supplies the light together with a Philips Master LEDbulb 806 lm / 8.5 W / 2700 K, which is dimmable – so dimming depends on the bulb and the dimmer, not on the fitting itself.

Durability and intended use

IP54 protects the light against dust and splashing water from any direction, and IK07 against light knocks. It works from −20 to +45 °C, and a silicone gasket seals the glass. The glass and gasket are available as spare parts (service kit 06650003, gasket 08652663), so a cracked pane does not mean replacing the whole light.

Norlys describes Bern as a contemporary design; the steel bands across the glass recall classic harbour lamps. It suits façades, entrances, balconies, and hotel and restaurant frontages. The Bern family also includes black and hot-dip galvanised versions.
