MERIDIAN BOX is an outdoor wall light shaped like a narrow box, 38 cm tall. The aluminium body is finished in silver-grey and the slightly curved polycarbonate diffuser is split by a vertical rib into two opal panels. The motion detector sits behind the diffuser — there is no visible lens and no separate sensor head.
Size and mounting
The fitting is 38 cm high, 13.5 cm wide and projects 14 cm from the wall, so it takes up only a narrow strip of the facade and stays out of the way beside a front door or on a terrace wall. At 1.747 kg it can be fixed with ordinary masonry plugs.
It is surface mounted and wired straight into a 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz supply. Safety class I means the feed has to include an earth conductor.
Light output and choosing a bulb
Behind the diffuser there is a single E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 25 W. No bulb is supplied, so you choose the colour and the brightness yourself; SLV specifies the T38 and T45 E27 LED lamps at 3000 K — warm white — with a colour rendering index of Ra 90.
The distribution is symmetrical and light leaves the fitting both downwards and upwards, so two bright bands appear on the wall above and below it while the diffuser panel glows evenly.
How the motion sensor works
The detector uses high-frequency microwave technology, so it responds to movement rather than heat and senses through the diffuser. Three settings are made during installation: how long the light stays on after a detection, the trigger threshold and the size of the detection zone. The light can therefore be limited to the path to the door instead of reacting to movement out on the street.
Build and outdoor use
IP54 means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction, so the fitting can go on an exposed facade, by a gate or along a driveway.
The body is aluminium and the diffuser polycarbonate. The MERIDIAN series carries the same shape in anthracite along with other outdoor wall lights of related form.
