The Rendl Monroe 30 pendant, code R12396, is a copper hemispherical shade on a thin cord with a matching canopy. The variant photograph shows a metal dome, open at the bottom, with a light interior; the bulb sits under the shade rather than inside a closed tube. This is the copper finish, not the neighbouring matte-black and white version. The shade is 30 cm across and 15 cm high.

Source and dimming

The card for this EAN lists an LED E27 lampholder, 11 W and 230 V. The shop name previously said 42 W; the official figure for R12396 is 11 W, so choose a bulb for 11 W, not for the higher number in the old name. No light source is included. Rendl states that the lamp is dimmable with a suitable source, so an E27 cap alone is not enough: you need a dimmable bulb and a compatible dimmer in the installation. Colour temperature and lumen output are not on the card.

The open bottom sends light downward and outward, while the copper dome hides the bulb from above. At 11 W this is zone light, not a substitute for several points in a large living room.

Drop and the table

The suspension length is 120 cm and is there to set the height. Measure the ceiling and compare it with 120 cm and with the tabletop: a dining table is usually about 75 cm high, and a seated person needs clearance overhead. A 30 cm shade is clearly narrower than a 75–90 cm top, so it lights the centre of the table, not the whole outline. Over a kitchen island the same diameter covers the zone under the lamp, not the surrounding worktops.

The producer lists a weight of 850 g. In a living room, dining room or over an island it works as a point above a chosen place. It is not a reading lamp beside an armchair.

Copper and a plain dome

The variant finish is copper, and the shade is metal. A hemisphere without crystal or fabric gives a modern, geometric character. Code R12396 is this copper Monroe 30: E27, 11 W, 30 cm diameter and 120 cm suspension. Before fitting, check that the ceiling lets you drop the shade to the height you need without entering the sightline.
