POINTS P050PL-L40W4K is a linear LED pendant light by Maytoni: a white aluminium bar 106.5 cm long and only 3.3 cm wide, hung on two thin suspension wires. Along its underside a row of 40 LEDs sits in black cells and shines downwards in a focused beam.
Size and hanging height
Compare the 106.5 cm length with the table top or desk the light will hang over — the bar lights the strip beneath it rather than the whole room around it. At 3.3 cm wide, it reads from below as a narrow line under the ceiling.
The manufacturer gives an overall height from 7.5 cm to 280 cm, so the wires can be shortened to hang the bar just under the ceiling or let down low over a table. Over a dining table the lower edge is usually set 70–80 cm above the table top. The light weighs 1.76 kg, and power arrives through a cable running alongside one of the wires.
How much light, and what kind
The integrated LEDs draw 40 W and deliver 3400 lm — main lighting rather than mood lighting, enough for the pendant to be the only light over a table or workstation. 4000 K is neutral white, comfortable for reading and working, and a colour rendering index of Ra 90 means food, paperwork and fabrics keep their natural colours under it.
The 25° beam angle directs the light onto the surface below the bar. The LEDs are set back in black cells, so from the side you do not see bare LED points. The fitting is not dimmable: it works with an ordinary switch, and a dimmer will not change its brightness. The LEDs cannot be replaced; the manufacturer states a service life of 30,000 hours.
Where it fits
A plain bar without ornament is a modern, minimalist form. It suits a living room, bedroom or dining room as well as an office, hotel or restaurant — anywhere even, bright light is needed over a longer surface. The fitting is protection class II, so it needs no earth conductor. The Points series also comes in black.
