s.luce Ring LED pendant lamp, 2 rings, silver, Ø100/80 cm

s.luce Ring is a combination of two illuminated rings hung one below the other on a shared axis: the larger one, 100 cm across, on top, and the smaller 80 cm ring beneath it. Both hang on thin steel cables from a single round canopy in the same silver finish. The ring surface is brushed.

How big it is and how far down it reaches

The ring profile itself is 3.3 cm high and 1.3 cm wide, so the body stays visually light despite a metre of span. The upper 100 cm ring holds its proportion over a table 90–100 cm wide; over a narrower top it will noticeably overhang.

The suspension reaches 500 cm and is adjustable — a dimension for a stairwell, a gallery or a room with a high ceiling rather than a standard 2.5 m one. Over a table the cables are usually shortened so the lower ring sits 70–80 cm above the top.

The light it gives

The fitting draws 81 W, which is the consumption of the whole combination rather than of one ring. It emits at 3000 K, a warm white, and colour rendering is above Ra 95: under this light the colours of fabric, wood and food read almost as they do in daylight, which is what counts over a table.

Light leaves both rings over their full circumference, as two horizontal circles at different heights. Brightness runs from 0 to 100%, smoothly and without steps, but it needs a leading- or trailing-edge phase dimmer — the fitting has no control of its own.

The light source and replacing it

The light comes from a built-in LED strip supplied with the fitting. The manufacturer states that s.luce technical service replaces it — it is not a part you unscrew yourself like a bulb, and that difference belongs before the purchase.

Rated life is 25,000 operating hours and 15,000 switching cycles. The fitting runs on 230 V and is a protection class I device, so it needs an installation with an earth conductor.

Where it works

The manufacturer assigns this combination to the living room, dining room and bedroom, as well as to the stairwell and the entrance hall. Five metres of suspension and the two-level ring arrangement suit a space open across two floors, where the fitting fills the vertical instead of sitting close under the ceiling.
