A metre-and-a-half LED batten for ceiling or wall

BENA LED 150 is a surface-mounted fitting 150 cm long with a section of just 6.5 × 7.4 cm — a slim white profile with an opal cover running its full length. The manufacturer specifies it for both ceiling and wall mounting, so the same fitting runs light over a workbench or along a hallway wall.

150 lm/W — why that is the number that matters here

5400 lumens at 36 W works out to 150 lumens per watt — high even by current LED standards. In practice one batten lights a double garage, a utility room or a workshop while drawing about as much power as a fluorescent tube half its output. The beam is 120° and the emission is direct, downward, so the light spreads wide and evenly without obvious patches.

4000 K, and flicker at 0.01

4000 K is neutral white — the right choice for work, a garage, a utility kitchen or a laundry, where warm white would be soporific and cool white unpleasant. Colour rendering is CRI 80, the standard for functional lighting.

One figure deserves separate attention because most fittings never publish it: SVM 0.01, the measure of stroboscopic effect. A value that low means the light is effectively flicker-free — which matters not only for the eyes over a long session but for safety around machinery with rotating parts, where flickering light can make a spinning spindle appear stationary.

Ready to wire straight to 230 V

The LED driver is built in, so the fitting connects directly to 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz — no separate driver to buy or hide. The module's secondary current is 700 mA. Built to Class I, it requires an earth conductor. The permitted ambient range is −20 to +40 °C, which covers an unheated garage or a carport in winter.

Life and running

Declared life is 50,000 hours to L70B50 — after which at most half the fittings in a batch will have dropped below 70% of initial output. The LED module is integrated; at eight hours a day that is over 17 years. The manufacturer gives a 5-year warranty.

One caveat: the manufacturer publishes no IP rating for this fitting, so it does not belong in wet zones or outdoors — it is for dry interiors.
