SPOT DISPLAY E27 is a display spotlight: an aluminium head with an E27 socket on the end of a straight 67.4 cm arm, the other end of which finishes in a clamp fixing. The manufacturer classifies it as a portable version — it comes with a cable and plug.

This is not a picture light — it is a clamp-mounted spot

Worth knowing before buying, because the construction differs fundamentally from a classic picture lamp. It is not screwed permanently to the wall above a frame: it clamps onto an edge — a shelf, a rail, the panel of a stand, the frame of a display case — and the long arm carries the light more than half a metre away from the fixing point.

That puts it where a permanent fixing cannot be made or is not allowed: on trade-fair stands, in shop windows, at exhibitions and display cases, in rented spaces, in galleries that rehang. It can be moved elsewhere in a minute and leaves no holes behind.

A tilting head

The manufacturer specifies this variant as the tilting version: the head swings vertically, so the beam can be set onto an exhibit, a picture or a shelf. Together with the long arm that gives two independent degrees of freedom — first you choose where the lamp sits, then where it points.

The head is aluminium, which matters practically with an E27 socket: aluminium draws heat away from the bulb, including with the more powerful sources.

The bulb: E27, halogen or LED, max 18.5 W

The manufacturer states the socket is intended for halogen and LED bulbs, at a maximum of 18.5 W. No bulb is included — and in display lighting that is rather an advantage, because the effect is decided precisely by the choice of bulb: its beam angle, colour temperature and colour rendering.

SLV names four of its own matching sources on the datasheet, which map out the range well:

For lighting merchandise and pictures, aim for CRI 90 — with weaker colour rendering, textiles, timber and leather lose saturation, and those are usually exactly what is on display.

Durability and safety

The manufacturer quotes an impact rating of IK03 (0.35 J) — a figure rarely published for indoor fittings, and a sensible one here, because display equipment is carried, remounted and packed far more often than a lamp fixed permanently in a home.

Protection class I means the fitting requires an earth — the cable has three cores and an earthed plug, so the socket must be earthed too. Protection IP20: dry interiors only. Supply 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz.
