TORONTO is a pendant lamp made from a single flat metal ribbon in silver, bent into a wide arch with two loops dipping in the middle and a curled loop at each end. A glowing LED strip under an opal diffuser runs along the whole inner edge of the ribbon. The lamp hangs on two thin cables from an elongated canopy in the same colour as the ribbon.
Size and where to hang it
According to the manufacturer's drawing, the lamp is 105 cm wide and 40 cm deep. Compare the width with the length of the table or area it will hang over: on a table top shorter than 105 cm, the ribbon extends past its edges.
The drawing gives 200 cm from the ceiling to the lower edge of the ribbon. Set that against your own ceiling height and against where the lamp should end — over a dining table the lower edge usually sits 70–80 cm above the top.
How much light, and what kind
The light source is an integrated 64 W LED supplied with the lamp — there are no bulbs to buy, but the LED cannot be swapped the way a bulb in a socket can. A flux of 7600 lm is main lighting rather than mood lighting: roughly nine old 60 W bulbs. At 3000 K the light is warm white, softer than neutral office light.
The lamp can be dimmed, but the wall dimmer has to be bought separately. The manufacturer gives a 5-year warranty.
Which rooms it suits
The manufacturer intends TORONTO for hanging over a dining table and as the main light in a living room; it also suits a bedroom. The form is modern: a single ribbon with no shades or ornament, where the line itself is the decoration. The silver ribbon and canopy are lighter than the black and gold versions, so against a light ceiling the lamp stands out less and the line of light itself becomes the main feature.
The TORONTO series also comes in matt black and matt gold — the dimensions and light figures are the same.
