Vendela is a small outdoor wall light from Elstead Lighting's own range, with a built-in LED module. The black cast aluminium body is shaped like a rounded, tapering shell that sits flat against the wall, and the LED module behind a polycarbonate lens is set into its flat, wider end.
How big it is and where it fits
The light is 20.2 cm tall, 12.1 cm wide, projects 9.5 cm from the wall and weighs 0.5 kg. That is roughly the size of a hand, so it fits on a narrow pillar, beside a door or on a balcony wall where a larger lantern would not.
An IP65 rating means it is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction – it can hang on a facade with no canopy, fully exposed to rain. It is a Class I fitting, so the circuit needs a protective earth conductor.
What light it gives
The integrated LED module draws 8 W and gives 680 lm of 3000 K light, which is warm white. That brightness is roughly what an old 60 W bulb gave: enough to light an entrance or a section of wall without dazzling passers-by. The manufacturer describes it as a light for washing a building without drawing attention away from the facade itself. A colour rendering index above 80 is sufficient for ordinary outdoor lighting.
The module is included, so there is no bulb to buy. It is, however, built permanently into the fitting and is not replaced like an ordinary bulb.
Where it works
The manufacturer calls Vendela a modern, compact light: the smooth, unadorned form and matt black sit well against render, timber and dark window frames. It is intended for house facades and balconies, as well as for exterior lighting at hotels and restaurants.
