ZAHO RID RD1 White Recessed LED Spotlight 6 W 2700 K 55°

ZAHO RID RD1 is a white recessed LED spotlight: a slim tube 11 cm long and 3 cm in diameter, which holds the light source, projects from a flat round trim 12.5 cm across. In the manufacturer's photos the tube is set once upright and once at an angle, so the light can be aimed where it is needed. The smooth trim blends into a white ceiling and only the tube stays visible.

Installing it in a ceiling or a wall

The light needs a cut-out of at least 75 mm, and the part hidden above the trim is 52 mm tall, so that much free space is needed in the suspended ceiling or the wall cavity. Spring clips hold it in place, so it is not screwed to the structure. The manufacturer shows RID RD1 both in a ceiling and in a wall.

It is a Class II luminaire, so no earth conductor is needed. The instructions forbid covering it with an insulating mat, which matters where the ceiling is insulated from above.

What light this version gives

The source is a built-in 6 W LED module delivering 600 lm. That is less than an old 60 W bulb (about 800 lm), so RID RD1 works as a spot or accent light rather than as the main light in a room. This version gives 2700 K, a warm, slightly yellowish light, and its 55° optic is the widest of the three beam angles the model is made in (20°, 36° and 55°), so it lights a larger patch than the narrow versions.

This version has ON/OFF electronics and runs from an ordinary switch, without dimming. ZAHO also makes RID RD1 with DALI or CASAMBI control, in 3000 K and 4000 K, and in black, grey and gold, each as a separate variant. The light is made in Poland and belongs to the RID family.
