Argon Massimo Plus 8568 Gold Light with Opal Glass, Ceiling or Wall Mount, IP44 G9

The Argon MASSIMO PLUS 8568 is a small light in gold-lacquered steel: a 12.5 cm ring on a short, rigid arm holds a 10 cm sphere of matt opal glass. The manufacturer designed it to be fixed to the ceiling as a flush light or to the wall as a sconce, and the head turns so the light can be aimed.

Dimensions and mounting

The whole light is 25 cm high, 14 cm wide and 12.5 cm deep. A round base 8 cm across and 3 cm deep screws to the ceiling or wall, and 18 cm of arm runs from it to the lower edge of the ring. Those are the proportions of an accent light over a mirror, beside a cabinet or in a niche, not of a light for a whole room. It is protection class I, so it needs an earth connection. It weighs 0.6 kg.

Which bulb it takes

There is one G9 lampholder and no bulb in the box. The manufacturer allows LED only, up to 6 W, and limits the lamp to 16 mm across and 50 mm long, so a longer G9 capsule will not fit inside the glass sphere. The matt opal glass diffuses the light, so the bulb itself is not visible.

Where it works

IP44 means it is protected against splashing water, which is why the manufacturer also sells it as a bathroom light above a mirror. It also lists the living room, dining room, bedroom, study and teenager's room. Gold metal with milky white glass, a plain ring and the visible arm combine a modern look with an industrial one.

The MASSIMO PLUS series also has the 8567 wall light and the two-light 7215 in the same gold, while the other versions come in white, black or navy.
