Bridgepoint is a small outdoor lantern that hangs on a chain: a globe of clear glass with trapped air bubbles sits inside a metal cage of vertical bars and rings, topped by a conical cap with a loop for the chain. The aluminium body has a Natural Brass finish in a warm tone. The lantern belongs to Kichler's Bridge Point collection, modelled on old ship and railway lanterns, and is distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting.
Size and hanging
The lantern itself is 27.2 cm tall and 17.8 cm in diameter, and weighs 1.53 kg. It comes with 182.9 cm of chain, and the overall drop from the ceiling ranges from 37.2 to 223.7 cm. Compare the upper figure with the height of the roof you will hang it from and with the headroom needed underneath.
A round ceiling pan 12.7 cm across sits against the ceiling. This is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected with an earth conductor.
Where it can hang
The manufacturer specifies the lantern for exterior installation. IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction. A pendant needs a structure above it, so its place is a covered terrace, a balcony, a gazebo or a canopy over the front door, as well as the outdoor seating of a hotel or restaurant.
Bulb and light
The lantern has one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the brightness and colour of the light yourself. The glass is clear and the bulb stays visible through it, which makes its shape part of how the lantern looks.
The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs: to dim it you need such a bulb and a dimmer.
