The eight-light Cassius by Kichler is a large, three-dimensional chandelier in Champagne Bronze. Branching arms form a spatial network, with eight faceted shades of shiny opal glass at their tips. It is distributed by Elstead Lighting.
Dimensions: a fitting for a large room
Unlike the flat four-light version, this one spreads in every direction: 133.4 cm wide, 67.3 cm deep and 79.4 cm high for the body alone. Compare those figures with the length and width of the island or table — the fitting should not overhang their outline. The overall height with rod is set at installation between 77.3 and 154.3 cm (rods of 2 × 15.2 cm and 2 × 30.5 cm are supplied). The chandelier weighs 7.6 kg, so on a plasterboard ceiling it must be fixed to the structure.
It can also be mounted just below the ceiling as a semi-flush light, which the manufacturer intends for lower rooms. The arms are rotated during installation to suit the space.
Light
Eight 3 W G9 LED lamps of 300 lm each are included — 2400 lm of warm white 3000 K light in all. That is main-light level for a large kitchen-diner. The lamps are replaceable. Dimming needs dimmable G9 lamps and a dimmer, both of which the fitting is compatible with.
It is Class I — connected with an earth conductor.
Character
The manufacturer describes Cassius as a celestial-inspired, modern focal point; the opal shades diffuse light into a "constellation" of soft points. The catalogue assigns it to kitchens, islands and tables, dining rooms and living rooms.
