Dione 4 Brass is a ceiling light built on a horizontal brass bar 117 cm across, suspended below the ceiling on a single rigid stem. Four satin glass globes sit on the bar and its branches: three 14 cm across and one 20 cm across, placed asymmetrically and at different heights.
How much room it takes under the ceiling
The manufacturer's technical drawing splits the 117 cm span into two unequal arms, 52 cm and 65 cm, measured from the stem. Compare that figure with the length of the table or island the fitting is to hang above, because that is the strip it covers.
From the ceiling to the bottom edge of the lowest globe is 58 cm, of which 33 cm is the stem alone. The ceiling rose measures 10 cm across and covers a standard installation box. The stem is rigid rather than a cable, so the drop follows from the construction and not from an adjustment; the depth of the fitting is 32 cm.
Which bulbs to buy
The fitting has four lampholders: three with an E14 cap and one with an E27 cap. For the E14 holders the manufacturer recommends narrow bulbs up to 10.2 cm tall and 10 W — that height limit rules out elongated candles and long decorative lamps, which will not fit inside a 14 cm globe.
The E27 holder takes a standard bulb up to 15 W. Since there are four sources and you buy them separately, it is worth choosing them all in the same light colour: at different colour temperatures the globes glow in visibly different shades.
Materials
The frame is metal in a brass finish and the globes are satin glass. Opal glass spreads the light across the whole surface of the sphere, so each globe lights up as a solid body rather than as a point.
The manufacturer recommends this model for rooms with a low ceiling — at 117 cm across and 58 cm deep the fitting spreads sideways instead of reaching far down into the room. The fitting itself weighs 2.6 kg.
