CLASSIC 288 is a table lamp on a round base with a straight steel column finished in satin brass. The shade is a truncated cone of fabric in a light, warm shade, trimmed with a gold band at both the top and the bottom rim. The cord leaves the base at the side.
How much surface it needs
The lamp stands 44 cm tall and the shade measures 27 cm across at its lower rim — and it is that wider figure, not the base, that decides whether the lamp fits on a desk or a bedside table. Measure from the wall to the front edge of the top and compare it with those 27 cm.
The fitting weighs 1.34 kg, which is a fair amount at this size — the weight sits in the metal base, and that is what keeps the lamp in place if someone catches the cord. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only.
What lamp it takes
The holder takes one light source with an E27 cap, and the manufacturer states a maximum of 15 W per holder. That is a low ceiling: incandescent and halogen lamps are not made at that wattage with an E27 cap, so in practice an LED lamp goes in here.
No lamp is included, so you choose the light colour yourself. For reading and for a bedside lamp 2700–3000 K is the usual pick, giving warm, slightly yellow light. The source is replaceable, so years later you change the lamp itself.
What it is made of and where it fits
The body is steel with a satin brass finish, the shade is fabric and the small parts are PVC. The brass is matt while the gold trims on the shade rims are polished; that contrast only shows up close.
The stated application is reading: the opaque shade directs the light downwards, onto a book or a worktop, instead of spreading it around the room. The shape is classic — cone shade, turned column, round foot — and it belongs to the CLASSIC family.
