Dali is an Elstead Lighting outdoor wall lantern with a plain, minimalist shape: an upright tubular shade stands in front of a ribbed back plate. The body is made of grade 304 stainless steel and painted grey – the paint has a fine matt texture that shows clearly in the close-up photos.
Light upwards and downwards
Inside are two GU10 lampholders, and the light leaves through both ends of the shade – one beam goes up and one goes down, drawing two bright bands on the wall. That needs clear wall space above and below the fitting, because the wall becomes part of the effect.
Each lampholder takes a bulb of up to 8 W, which in practice means LED bulbs – traditional GU10 halogens draw far more. Bulbs are not included, so you need to buy two; the manufacturer recommends warm-white GU10 LED bulbs for this fitting. The lantern is compatible with dimmable bulbs, so with a dimmer on the circuit both bulbs must be marked as dimmable.
Size and mounting
The lantern is 26 cm tall and 13 cm wide, projects 10 cm from the wall and weighs 0.85 kg. With a body that shallow it fits beside a front door, along a narrow path and on a balcony, where a deeper fitting would get in the way.
It is a Class I fitting, so the supply at the mounting point needs a protective earth conductor. For mounting on the corner of a building the manufacturer offers separately sold corner brackets: C-BKT2-BROWN, C-BKT2-BLACK and C-BKT5-BLACK.
Outdoors and by the sea
An IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, so the lantern is intended for facades, balconies and gardens. Dali belongs to the Elstead Lighting Coastal Collection: 304 stainless steel resists corrosion better than ordinary steel, which matters in the damp, salty air near the coast.
