The shade alone, with no suspension

Dimitri, article 73974, is a pendant shade and not a complete light. The box contains the glass body only — no flex, no ceiling rose, no lamp holder, no bulb. To hang it you need a separate cable set with an E27 or B22 holder; the manufacturer sells such sets in the same range and recommends them explicitly.

The arrangement has the advantage people choose it for: the same shade can hang on black, white or brass flex of any length, and years later the suspension alone can change without replacing the glass. It is also the only way to group several shades on a shared track at a spacing matched to the table.

Bubble glass

The body is 30 cm across and 20 cm tall — the proportion of a flattened globe, wider than it is high. It is made of clear glass with air bubbles deliberately trapped in it, spread unevenly through the full thickness of the wall.

That detail decides the character of the light. Clear glass does not diffuse output — the bulb stays fully visible, and the bubbles catch light and throw fine, shifting glints across the surface. In practice that means two things: the shade looks best with a decorative lamp whose filament shows, and it should not hang at eye level over a table, because an unshielded source will dazzle.

Choosing the lamp

The manufacturer permits a GLS lamp of up to 40 W with an E27 or B22 cap. The shade itself is not dimmable — control depends entirely on the lamp and the dimmer in the circuit. With clear glass, choose a low-output, warm lamp: 40 W incandescent or an LED equivalent around 400–500 lm gives a pleasant effect, while anything stronger inside an unshielded globe becomes uncomfortable to look at.

Weight and installation

The glass body weighs 1.32 kg — a lot for a shade, so the cable set and the ceiling fixing must be rated for that load. A thin decorative flex on a lightweight holder may not carry it; check the set's specification before ordering.
