Layered Leaf is a ceramic table lamp base from Endon with a rounded, oval body covered in rows of handmade leaf shapes. The ceramic has an ivory crackle glaze, and above the body rises an aged-brass-finish stem with a brass B22 lampholder. This is the base alone — the shade is bought separately.
What is in the box and what you need to add
The box holds the ceramic body with its stem, lampholder and cable. No shade and no bulb are included. Endon pairs this base with 30 cm shades from its fabric and raffia ranges, and that diameter is the starting point if you choose a shade from another collection.
The lampholder takes a B22 bayonet cap rather than a screw E27, so the bulb must have a B22 cap — an E27 bulb will not fit. Endon rates the base for an LED lamp of up to 10 W. The switch is built into the lampholder itself, so the lamp is turned on right below the bulb.
Size and where it fits
The base on its own is 30.5 cm tall and 18.5 cm in diameter; the height of the finished lamp depends on the shade you put on it. The 18.5 cm diameter is the figure to compare with the top of a sideboard in the living room or a bedside table in the bedroom. The ceramic body weighs 2.5 kg, which gives a table lamp a steady footing.
The fabric-covered cable in a natural colour is 1.5 m long, which is how far the lamp can stand from the socket. The lamp is Class I, so it is connected to an earthed socket.
How it is made
Endon shapes the leaves on the body by hand and layers them over one another, which is where the range takes its name. The crackle is a deliberate glaze effect: the fine network of lines sits under a smooth, glassy surface and is not damage. The stem is brass-plated and finished as aged brass, while the lampholder itself is brass, so the metal stands out as a clear accent above the pale ceramic.
