LAGOS 1474 is a three-light ceiling fitting on a bar 44 cm long. The bar itself measures 41 cm long, 4 cm wide and 2 cm thick and is finished in structured black; the three heads, 5 cm across and 9 cm long, are brassed steel and sit on knuckle joints 4.5 cm high.
How much room it needs and how it aims
The whole fitting measures 44 cm across and 14.5 cm from the ceiling to the lowest point of a tilted head — figures to compare with the space above the worktop, shelf or picture that is to be lit. The heads turn in their joints, so each of the three beams is aimed separately instead of shining straight down.
The manufacturer also allows this fitting to be mounted on a wall as a wall light, and states that it can be modified for 1+2 switching, splitting the three lamps across two circuits. That modification has to be requested with the order — it is not something to do at home.
Which lamps to buy
The fitting has three GU10 sockets and comes without lamps, so colour and brightness are your choice. The manufacturer gives a maximum of 5 W per socket, and the instruction card crosses out the halogen lamp and ticks LED, so the 5 W ceiling applies to LED lamps only — halogen at that rating does not go in here.
The card also gives the largest lamp it takes: 51 mm across and 57 mm long. An ordinary GU10 stays within those limits, but versions with a large heatsink are often longer and will not then enter the head. The fitting can be dimmed, which needs a dimmer and lamps marked as dimmable.
Build and connection
The heads are brassed steel and the bar is lacquered steel — hence the pairing of bright brass with a matt black that has a texture you can feel. The whole fitting weighs 0.8 kg.
It runs on 230 V. The fitting is protection class I, so it has to be connected to wiring with an earth conductor; a ceiling outlet without earth is not enough here.
