GES770 is a Gea Luce outdoor wall light in lantern form: a box-shaped aluminium frame in white, glazed with clear glass and hung from a short arm that projects from an upright mounting plate. An integrated LED module sits inside.
Size and wall mounting
According to the manufacturer's drawing the light is 38 cm high and 12 cm wide, and it projects 16.7 cm from the wall. Beside a front door, compare those 16.7 cm with the width of a leaf that opens outwards, and the 38 cm height with the space between the door frame and any canopy.
It connects directly to 230 V mains and the driver is included. It is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor. IP54 means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction, so the light can go on an exterior wall without a canopy over it. It weighs 2.11 kg.
How much light, and what kind
The 13 W LED module gives 762 lm — about what an old 60 W bulb produced, which is enough for an entrance, the steps in front of a door or part of a terrace. 4000 K is neutral white, under which facade colours and plants look natural, and a colour rendering index above Ra 80 is the standard for general lighting. The beam angle is 120°.
The light source is integrated and not replaceable, and the manufacturer quotes a life of 25,000 hours. The light is not dimmable — it is on/off only — so it does not belong on a circuit with a dimmer.
Finish and choice of colour
The white frame and clear glass make the lantern stand out against a dark facade, while on a pale wall it recedes. Gea Luce also makes the same body in anthracite as GES771, but that version gives 533 lm at the same power, so the white one is noticeably brighter.
