GPL331H is a small surface-mounted ceiling light in cylinder form, black with a sandy texture. The body is aluminium and the underside is closed by a white diffuser set slightly back inside the housing.
Ra above 90 — colours look as they do by day
The maker states a colour rendering index above Ra 90, which is not a given on a small ceiling fitting — most general-purpose luminaires stop at Ra 80. The difference shows wherever colour has to be judged: at a mirror, in a wardrobe, over a worktop, beside a picture.
Colour temperature is 2700 K, warm white with a distinctly yellow cast, close to the traditional incandescent bulb. Ra 90 at so warm a colour gives the impression of candlelight and filament lamps without their distortion of reds and browns.
How much light, and how concentrated
The built-in LED module draws 8 W and gives 591 lm — about 74 lm/W. The beam angle is 80°, moderately wide: the light falls as a cone, lighting the surface beneath the fitting rather than the whole room.
At that output a single unit works as supplementary light for one spot; lighting a room takes several set out on a grid. The diffuser sits recessed, so the rim of the cylinder shields the LED from the eye of anyone standing to the side.
Build and mounting
The housing is aluminium, painted black with a fine sandy texture that scatters reflections and shows dust less than smooth lacquer would. The aluminium draws heat off the module — on an enclosed fitting that bears on the declared 30,000-hour life.
It mounts straight to the ceiling, with no hole to cut. It is protection class II, so no earth conductor is needed. It runs on 230 V, and an IP20 rating places it in dry interiors.
