Helva Double chrome wall light by Nordlux

Helva Double is a wall light made of two opal tubes running out to each side from a chrome bracket in the middle. It measures 42.5 cm overall, the tubes are 5.7 cm across, and the fitting stands 10.5 cm off the wall. Body and diffusers are plastic, with the centre section finished in chrome.

Two light colours and stepless dimming by touch

The touch dimmer is on the fitting itself, on the chrome bracket — no separate dimmer in the wall is needed. A short touch switches the colour between 3000 K and 4000 K, that is between warm white and neutral white; a longer hold changes the brightness steplessly.

The fitting remembers the last setting, so after being switched off and on again it comes back at the same colour and brightness it was left at.

How much light it gives and how truly it shows colour

The integrated LED module draws 9.5 W and delivers 900 lm — roughly what the old 60 W bulb gave, split across two tubes either side of the bracket, so the light arrives from two points rather than one.

Ra 90 colour rendering means colours look close to how they look in daylight. At a mirror that is a practical difference: skin tone and the colour of clothes match what they will look like outside the bathroom. The manufacturer states 25 000 hours for the module and energy class F. The light source cannot be replaced — once it is spent, the whole fitting is changed.

Size and how it mounts

The fitting can be mounted vertically or horizontally — the manufacturer allows both, so the same unit works beside a mirror and above it. A bracket is included that also lets it be fixed to a cabinet rather than only to the wall.

At 42.5 cm long and 0.53 kg it is light; the 10.5 cm projection is the figure to compare with the depth of the basin top, so it does not get in the way when you lean over it. The fitting is safety class II, double insulated, and needs no earth conductor.

Where it may be mounted

IP44 means resistance to splashing water from any direction, which is why the manufacturer intends Helva Double for humid rooms, the bathroom at the mirror and basin included. Outside direct shower zones it also works in a hallway or utility room.
