Bollard Light NORLYS Alta 1477GA hot-dip galvanised E27 LED 5.9 W 2700 K 49 cm

Alta 1477GA is a cylindrical bollard light, 15 cm in diameter and 49 cm tall, made of hot-dip galvanised steel with no paint. The head consists of five steel louvres under a flat cap, with an opal PMMA diffuser beneath them. Inside is an E27 socket, and a 5.9 W Philips LED lamp comes in the box.

Which lamp and how much light

The supplied Philips MASTER LEDbulb in an A60 shape gives 806 lm, as much as an old 60 W bulb, at 2700 K – warm and slightly yellow. 100 lm leaves the fitting, because the louvres shield the diffuser from above and send the light around the bollard and downwards. That marks a path, a bed or an entrance; it does not light a whole garden. ULOR 10 % and BUG B0-U1-G0 mean little skyward light and low glare.

The user changes the lamp, but the datasheet allows only E27 LED lamps in an A55–A60 shape. It dims on phase dimmers of both kinds, trailing edge (TE) or leading edge (LE). Norlys also sells spare parts: the diffuser, the gasket and the lamp itself.

Height, mounting and wiring

At 49 cm the bollard shines at knee height: it lights the surface right next to it and does not rise above low planting. Compare that height with the bed edge or the steps it will stand beside. The fitting weighs 6.7 kg and ships in a 21 × 21.5 × 57 cm box.

The base is bolted down through three ø9 mm holes set 120° apart on a ø65 mm circle. Ground or concreting anchors, the concrete-foundation adapter and the mounting adapter are sold separately. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², also when looping through, and the gland a round cable up to 12.5 mm, so several bollards along a path share one cable run. Class II needs no protective earth.

Durability and where it fits

IP65 means a dust-tight housing protected against water jets, so the bollard stands outdoors without cover, and IK08 means resistance to impacts of up to 5 J. The operating range is −20 to +45 °C. The Alta suits a garden, terrace or driveway as well as a street or the grounds of a hotel or restaurant; the plain cylinder with louvres is a Scandinavian form.
