LUMINES B is an aluminium profile for LED strip, made to be recessed into a milled groove — in a worktop, a shelf, a cabinet front or a stair tread. This version is 2.02 m long in an anodised inox finish: a matt, warm steel tone rather than mirror chrome. The maker aims it at kitchen and shop lighting, shelves and countertops included.
How it is fitted
The groove has to be at least 9 mm deep; the profile is either pressed into it or held with double-sided tape. The 16 mm body disappears into the groove and a 21 mm flange stays on the surface, covering the edges of the cut. The channel for the strip is 13.4 mm wide and 6.8 mm deep, and the light leaves perpendicular to the surface.
What has to be bought separately
The box holds the profile alone. Strip, cover, end caps and driver are separate purchases. The strip has to fit the channel — the maker allows a width of up to 12 mm. The driver goes outside the profile, so a place for it has to be planned in advance, in the adjoining cabinet for instance.
Profile B takes BASIC covers in PMMA and polycarbonate: transparent, frosted, milky, opal and black, plus the LENS 15 and LENS 30 lensed covers that narrow the beam. The milkier the cover, the less the individual diodes show — and the less light comes out. End caps come in flat and round versions, inox among the finishes.
Lengths and limits
Profile B comes in three catalogue lengths — 1.0 m, 2.02 m and 3.0 m — and to order in a custom size up to 6 m. Lengths cannot be joined with a connector into one continuous line, so a longer run means either several separate pieces with a visible break or one made-to-measure profile.
The profile can be sealed: sealed it reaches IP68, unsealed it stays at IP20 and belongs in dry interiors only. It is not drive-over rated, so it must not go into a floor where anything will roll over it.
