ONI is a compact surface-mounted LED profile, in a 2.02 m length, in a raw finish (aluminium neither anodised nor painted). Order code 10-1760-20.

Maximum light at minimum height

The manufacturer states ONI's purpose plainly: places with limited space, where the greatest possible output is needed from the shallowest possible profile. It is a solution for cabinetry – under a shelf, in a plinth, along the edge of a worktop, inside a trim – where every millimetre of height competes with the furniture structure.

The second use the manufacturer names is suspended mounting in architectural spaces. The same profile therefore serves both discreet furniture lighting and a hanging luminaire.

Four ways to fix it

ONI mounts with screws, on double-sided tape, on a suspension or on a hinge. That is an unusual set: tape allows fitting without drilling into finished furniture, and the hinge lets an element carrying the profile open without dismantling the lighting. When planning an installation inside cabinetry, that flexibility often matters more than the profile shape itself.

Sealable to IP68

This is the profile's strongest technical feature. As standard the assembly is IP20, but the manufacturer provides for sealing to IP68 – full dust protection and prolonged immersion. Few decorative profiles offer that. It opens up applications an ordinary furniture profile cannot serve: kitchen worktops at risk of flooding, washbasin zones, bathroom lighting.

Bear in mind that sealing requires the right cover, end caps and silicone – the profile alone does not deliver IP68 out of the box.

The raw finish – when it makes sense

The raw version is aluminium without anodising or paint. That has three consequences. First, price: it is the cheapest variant in the range. Second, appearance: a matt surface in the natural, slightly grey tone of the metal, with visible extrusion marks. Third – and most important – the raw profile is meant to be built in, where it will not be seen, or to be painted yourself to match furniture or wall.

If the profile is to remain visible, the range offers painted white (10-1761-20), painted black (10-1762-20), anodised INOX (10-1763-20) and anodised silver (10-1764-20).

What this profile does not do

Two things to check before designing: ONI is not linkable – lengths cannot be joined into one continuous longer line without a visible break, and custom lengths up to 6 m are made to order. The profile is also not walk-over rated, so it does not suit floors or stairs.

The driver sits outside the profile – a section this shallow has no room for it inside, which has to be allowed for in the furniture design.
