Maytoni ROLL O307CL-01B outdoor ceiling light, black cylinder GU10, IP54 Promo Code - MAY20 until the end of Oct 31

ROLL O307CL-01B is an outdoor ceiling light from Maytoni in the shape of a small black aluminium cylinder, mounted directly on the ceiling. Light leaves only downwards, through a round pane of textured glass closing the bottom opening of the body.

Size and where it goes

The cylinder is 6.5 cm in diameter and 10 cm high, so on a canopy ceiling it takes up little more room than a junction box. The IP54 rating means protection against dust and splashing water from any direction, so the light can work outdoors — under eaves, above a terrace, in a gazebo or by the entrance of a hotel or restaurant. The manufacturer gives an operating range of -40 to +50 °C and a body resistant to corrosion and temperature changes, which matters for year-round installation.

According to the instructions, the base is screwed to the ceiling and wired first, then the bulb is inserted and finally the cylinder is screwed on. It is a class I fitting, so the protective earth must be connected; the manufacturer gives the supply as AC 100–260 V.

Bulb and light

Inside is one GU10 socket for a bulb of up to 50 W. The colour and brightness of the light depend on the bulb you choose, and the downward beam mainly lights the ground and the wall below the fitting — the manufacturer's photos show a clear circle of light beneath the cylinder. The manufacturer does not provide for dimming this fitting.

Construction and style

The body is aluminium and the inner parts are plastic and glass; the whole fitting weighs 190 g. A smooth black cylinder with no ornament is a modern form, and several fittings set in a line along a canopy create an even row of light points.
