Paris 1495GA is an outdoor wall light shaped as a half-sphere, its shade an upturned bowl of hot-dip galvanised steel – the surface shows the raw silver-grey of zinc. Underneath, a satin, UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffuser closes the bowl and lets diffuse light out downwards.
Size and mounting
The fitting is 23 cm wide and 11.5 cm high and projects 14 cm from the wall – a figure to compare with the space above a door or next to its frame. It fixes with two screws through 5 × 10 mm oval holes spaced 90 mm apart, and weighs 0.79 kg.
The driver is built in and the light connects to the 230 V mains. It is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and up to 3 × 1.5 mm² for looping through, so several lights on a facade can share one cable. The manufacturer also states how many fittings one circuit breaker carries: 46 on B 10 A, 75 on B 16 A, 74 on C 10 A and 120 on C 16 A.
What light it gives
Drawing 5.9 W, the fitting emits 628 lm – a little less than an old 60 W bulb, enough for a front door, steps or the wall by a terrace. 3000 K is warm white, and CRI 80 renders colours correctly. It dims with a trailing-edge phase dimmer.
IP43 protects against rain falling at up to 60° from vertical, but not against splashing from every direction – it suits a spot under eaves, a canopy or on a sheltered wall.
Service and use
The LED module and the driver are replaced by a professional service; the manufacturer offers repair kit ZS1495zx0014 and separate service kits for the driver and the LED module. The module is rated at 102,000 h (L80) and the driver at 50,000 h. The classic, simple half-sphere suits house facades, hotel and restaurant entrances and gardens.
