CRES 10478 is a white surface-mounted downlight from Nowodvorski: a small cylinder of painted aluminium that screws directly to the ceiling, with no cut-out needed. Near its lower edge the body has a translucent ring, and underneath it is closed by a frosted cover.
Size and mounting
The fitting is 8.5 cm in diameter and 8.3 cm high, so it projects just over 8 cm from the ceiling, and its base covers only a small area of ceiling around the cable outlet. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only. Mounting parts and instructions are in the box, and the fitting itself weighs 0.19 kg.
CRES is protection class I, so it must be connected to the protective earth conductor. It runs on ~220β230 V, 50/60 Hz mains.
Light source
The fitting has a single GX53 socket and no lamp is included β one has to be bought separately. The manufacturer allows LED sources of up to 12 W only; higher-wattage conventional lamps must not be used. Because the source is replaceable, the colour and brightness of the light are chosen with the flat GX53 LED lamp: usually 2700β3000 K for a living room or bedroom, and 4000 K is also common in a kitchen or study.
Which interiors it suits
Nowodvorski describes the style of CRES as modern β a plain cylindrical body with no decoration. The fitting suits a living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining room, hallway and study, as well as hotels and restaurants. The same series also comes in black (CRES 10480).
