Outdoor Wall Light NORLYS Halden 5020WH white LED 8.5 W 4000 K

Halden 5020WH is an outdoor LED wall light shaped like a quarter sphere: a smooth, rounded cast-aluminium body sits flat against the wall, and its underside is closed by a clear, textured polycarbonate diffuser. The light is powder-coated in white RAL 9003 and shines only downwards.

Dimensions and mounting

According to the manufacturer's drawing the light is 31 cm wide and 15 cm high and projects 15.5 cm from the wall. It weighs 1.64 kg, 1.94 kg packed; the carton measures 34 × 17 × 16.5 cm. It mounts on an intermediate plate with two 7 × 10 mm adjustment slots at 100 mm spacing – the slots let you level the light once the holes are drilled.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and loop-through wiring to the next light up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so several wall lights on one façade can share a supply line. The cable enters through an EPDM gland and must be round, 7–10.5 mm in diameter. The light is protection class I and needs a protective earth. The card also states how many of these lights one circuit breaker can handle: 157 on a B 10 A and 254 on a B 16 A.

What light it gives

The light is diffuse, hemispherical and directed downwards – ULOR 0% and a BUG rating of B0-U1-G0 mean nothing shines into the sky; the light brightens the wall below it and the ground next to it. It draws 8.5 W and delivers 690 lm, roughly what an old 60 W bulb gave. 4000 K is a neutral white, CRI 80 is the colour rendering typical of general lighting, and SDCM3 means that neighbouring lights shine in the same shade.

The light can be dimmed with a trailing-edge (TE) phase dimmer – the dimmer has to be chosen for exactly this type of control.

Durability and service

IP65 lets you mount it on a wall without any canopy, and IK10, the highest impact-resistance class, matters at an entrance, gate or wall within reach of passers-by. The operating range is −20 to +45 °C. The Philips Fortimo LED module keeps at least 70% of its flux after more than 50,000 h (L70), the driver is rated for 50,000 h, and both are replaced by a professional service; the diffuser, driver and LED module are available as spare parts.
