Outdoor Wall Light NORLYS Halden 515AL light grey E27 LED 5.9 W 2700 K

Halden 515AL is an outdoor wall light shaped like a quarter sphere: the rounded cast-aluminium body sits flat against the wall and is closed underneath by a clear, textured, UV-stabilised polycarbonate lens. The housing is powder-coated light grey, RAL 9006, and the light leaves downwards only. A dimmable Philips E27 LED lamp is included.

Size and installation

According to the manufacturer's drawing the fitting is 31 cm wide and 15 cm high and projects 15.5 cm from the wall – the figure to compare with the free space beside a door, on a gate pillar or on a garden wall. It weighs 1.8 kg, or 2 kg in its 34 × 17 × 16.5 cm box. It mounts on an intermediate plate with two 7 × 10 mm slotted holes at 100 mm spacing, so it can still be levelled after drilling.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and loop-through to the next fitting up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so several lights can run from one line. The EPDM gland seals round cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter. The fitting is protection class I, so the installation needs an earth conductor.

Lamp and light

The E27 socket holds the supplied Philips MASTER LEDbulb, 5.9 W at 2700 K – warm, slightly yellow light close to a traditional bulb. The user replaces the lamp themselves; the manufacturer allows only E27 LED lamps of the A55–A60 shape here. The fitting dims on a trailing-edge or leading-edge phase dimmer.

The lamp alone gives 806 lm, but through the textured lens and shielded body 175 lm leave the fitting, or 29.7 lm/W. This is orientation light: a diffuse downward half-sphere lights a band of wall and the ground beneath. ULOR is 0 % and BUG B0-U1-G0, so no light goes into the sky. The energy efficiency class is D.

Durability and where it fits

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, and IK10 is the top of the impact scale, 20 J. It operates from −20 to +45 °C. Norlys intends it for lighting walls, façades and other architectural schemes: on a house front, by a balcony, on a fence wall or pillar, and at the entrance of a hotel or restaurant. The smooth, rounded form without ornament is minimalist, in a Scandinavian spirit.
