Outdoor Wall Light NORLYS Vasa 128AL light grey LED 8.5 W 3000 K up/down

Vasa 128AL is an LED outdoor wall light shaped like a half-cylinder, cast in aluminium and powder-coated light grey in RAL 9006. Two integrated LED modules shine through a clear, textured polycarbonate diffuser up and down the wall at the same time. The driver is built in, so the fitting connects straight to the 230 V mains.

Size and installation

The light is 31 cm wide and 12.5 cm high, projects 15.5 cm from the wall and weighs 2.27 kg. It is fixed through an intermediate plate with two 5 × 10 mm adjustment slots 45 mm apart, or directly through two ø5 mm holes 68 mm apart – the slotted plate lets you level it after drilling.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the cable gland a round-sheathed cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter. The fitting can be looped through with conductors up to 3 × 1.5 mm², and according to the manufacturer one B 10 A circuit breaker carries up to 157 of them. It is protection class I and must be connected to a protective earth.

Light and control

The Philips Fortimo modules draw 6.6 W and produce 1128 lm; the complete luminaire draws 8.5 W and delivers 631 lm, or 74.2 lm/W. 3000 K is warm white, and SDCM3 means that several lights on one facade glow in practically the same tint. Half of the output (ULOR 50 %) goes up and half down, and the BUG rating B0-U3-G0 confirms that almost nothing escapes sideways – the wall gets two bright bands above and below the fitting.

The Philips Xitanium TE driver dims only on a trailing-edge phase dimmer; a leading-edge dimmer made for incandescent lamps is not supported. The light sources are not user-replaceable – the LED modules and the driver are changed by a professional service. The manufacturer gives an L80B20 lifetime above 72,000 h, and 50,000 h for the driver.

Durability and use

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, and IK08 an impact resistance of 5 J. The gasket is silicone, the cable gland EPDM and the diffuser UV-stabilised; the operating range is −20 to +45 °C. Norlys designed the Vasa for walls and facades, as well as hotel and restaurant entrances.
