Paul Neuhaus Hula 319-18 is a black floor lamp shaped as an 80 cm ring. A narrow profile surrounds the open centre, with LEDs running around the ring behind a white cover. Instead of a tall stem and lampshade, this design creates a low, wide circle of light.
An 80 cm ring
The lamp is 80 cm high, spans 80 cm and is 25 cm deep. When choosing a position beside a sofa or sideboard, allow for the outline of the whole ring, not just its feet. The centre remains open, leaving the wall or furniture behind it visible.
This is a freestanding fitting for indoor use. Its 2 m cable helps you check whether the chosen position is within reach of a socket. Hula does not need a ceiling connection: the light sits at the height of the ring rather than overhead, as it would with a pendant.
Choose colour and brightness with the remote
The supplied infrared remote provides continuous adjustment of brightness and colour temperature between 2700 and 5000 K. The lower end gives warm, slightly yellowish light, while the upper end is a cooler white. These settings are independent, so dimming the lamp does not restrict you to one particular light colour.
The memory function retains the last settings even after the power supply is disconnected. The remote required for these adjustments comes with the lamp, so there is no separate controller to select.
Light output of the complete lamp
The complete luminaire delivers 840 lm and consumes 23 W. The LED module itself is rated at 2600 lm; that is not the amount emitted by the finished fitting. Use 840 lm when comparing the brightness of complete lamps. The LED light source is included, so this model does not require a separate screw-in bulb.
