PROFI LED Strip 24V 2640 LED COB 10W/m 6500K CRI90 IP20, 5 m

The PROFI LED strip uses COB technology: a dense run of 528 diodes per metre under one shared phosphor layer. Unlike an SMD strip it shows no individual points — it lights as a continuous line. The reel is 5 m long and runs on 24 V.

What COB technology gives you

The diodes sit so close together that the eye does not resolve them as dots. That matters wherever the strip is seen directly or reflected in a glossy surface: in an open profile, under a cabinet above a stone worktop, along a mirror. An SMD strip in such a place draws a row of points; COB gives an unbroken line.

At 6500 K the colour is cold white — distinctly cool light, close to daylight. A colour rendering index of Ra 90 means colours appear under it almost as they do in daylight, which at a worktop or in a wardrobe is the difference between judging a colour and guessing it. A metre of the strip gives around 1000 lm, more than the old 60 W incandescent bulb.

What has to be bought as well

The strip runs on 24 V and does not connect to a socket directly — it needs a 24 V driver, which is not supplied. Consumption is 10 W per metre, so the full five-metre reel loads the driver with 50 W; a driver is chosen above that figure, usually by about a fifth, so that it is not working at its limit. Dimming requires a separate 24 V controller.

Cutting, mounting and operating conditions

The strip may only be shortened at the marked points, every 45 mm — that is the shortest piece it can be cut into, and the dimension a shelf or recess length has to be matched to. The board is 10 mm wide, so the strip will sit in a profile with a channel at least that wide; check the width including the adhesive layer.

IP20 is intended for dry interiors only — a bathroom shower zone and any outdoor mounting are ruled out. The manufacturer states an operating range of −20 to +45 °C, an L70/B50 life of 26,200 h — roughly 24 years at three hours a day — and over 30,000 on/off cycles.
