Recessed Downlight SLV NUMINOS DL XL Black 37.4W 4000K 1004039

The NUMINOS DL XL is a round recessed ceiling downlight with a 16 cm trim ring. Ring and conical reflector are black and matt; the body hidden above the ceiling is a finned aluminium heat sink. It runs on a built-in LED module at 4000 K, so no bulb is bought with it.

What opening it needs and how much space above the ceiling

The cut-out is 14.5 cm across and the fitting needs 11.5 cm of installation depth — that much clear space has to remain above a suspended ceiling, a figure worth comparing with the void you have. Only 0.7 cm of the ring sits below the ceiling line.

Leaf springs hold the fitting, and the manufacturer specifies them for panels 7 to 25 mm thick.

How much light it gives and what kind

The module delivers 3600 lm at 37.4 W — more than four times an old 60 W bulb, so one fitting covers what is usually split between several smaller points. 4000 K is neutral white, without the yellow cast of 2700 K or the coolness above 5000 K.

The 55-degree beam spreads wide rather than cutting a spot onto a single object. Ra 90 means colours look almost as they do in daylight, which matters where goods or material samples are examined. UGR ≤ 25 sits within the values accepted for circulation areas and sales floors, but not for computer workstations, where UGR ≤ 19 is required. The manufacturer states 50,000 hours to the L80B50 criterion.

The LED driver is bought separately

The fitting is protection class III and runs on 1050 mA, not on 230 V mains. No driver is included — SLV lists items such as 1004071 (4.2–50 W, 1050 mA, DALI) and 1004066 (28–40 W, 1000 mA, phase dimming) for it. Without one of them the light will not come on.

The fitting itself is not DALI capable, so whether and how it dims is decided by the driver you choose. Its connection lead is 10 cm, and the manufacturer allows 20 to 200 cm between driver and fitting — the space for the driver has to be planned within that reach.

Reduction rings and diffusers

SLV offers 240/150 mm reduction rings for the XL body, which let the fitting sit in an existing, larger opening, and clip-on diffusers — frosted, prismatic, elliptical, honeycomb — that change the character of the beam. All of them are separate items.
