NUMINOS GIMBLE XS is a small, round recessed ceiling light with a white bezel and a black interior holding a movable LED module. The module rotates through 355° and tilts by 60°, so the beam can be aimed at a picture, a shelf or a section of wall rather than only straight down.
Cut-out and ceiling space
The bezel is 8 cm in diameter and the cut-out is round, 6.8 cm across. The body rises 5.5 cm above the ceiling surface, while the bezel sits only 0.2 cm below it. The datasheet gives an installation depth of 8 cm, but the installation manual asks for 11 cm of clear space above the ceiling — that is the figure to compare with the void above a suspended ceiling, as it includes room for the connector and the lead.
Light
At 7 W the module delivers 720 lm in a narrow 20° beam, a concentrated pool of light for picking out a particular object. 4000 K is neutral white, and CRI 90 renders colours almost as daylight does — which matters for pictures, fabrics or goods on a shelf. A glare rating of UGR ≤ 16 means the light causes little glare when it faces into the room.
The driver is bought separately
This is a protection class III fitting supplied with a 200 mA constant current — it is not connected directly to 230 V mains, and no driver is included. The fitting has a 10 cm lead with a plug, and the manufacturer lists matching 200 mA drivers with a quick connector: the basic 1005610, the phase-dimmable 1005609 and the DALI-dimmable 1005611, plus driver 1006457 with a Casambi or Zigbee radio module. The driver you choose therefore decides whether and how the light can be dimmed.
The manufacturer quotes a service life of 50,000 h (L80B50), and the light source may only be replaced by a professional. Matching diffusers (frosted, clear, black) and 160/70 mm reduction rings for holes left by larger fittings are also available.
