Rena 1786ST is a drive-over in-ground light: all that shows at surface level is a square stainless steel faceplate 13 cm across with a round window of clear safety glass. The body beneath is powder-coated cast aluminium and goes 15.7 cm deep.
Where it can go and what it withstands
Vehicles on pneumatic tyres may drive over the fitting, and Norlys gives a maximum load of 2000 kg — the range of a passenger car on a driveway or parking space. The manufacturer specifies that it must not be installed in traffic lanes, where hard braking, acceleration and turning would load it sideways.
IP68 (to 1 m) means the luminaire stays sealed even under standing water and flooding, and IK09 impact resistance protects the glass in a surface that is walked and driven on.
What light it gives
The integrated LED module draws 8.4 W and the luminaire delivers 558 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. All of the light goes upwards in a narrow, symmetric 15° beam — the fitting draws a crisp shaft of light and works both as an orientation marker in the paving and as an uplight picking out what stands above it. Ra 80 renders the colours of lit surfaces well.
It is phase-dimmable and works with both dimmer types: trailing edge (TE) and leading edge (LE). The LED module is replaceable, but only by a professional service, for which Norlys supplies the ZS1786 kit; the manufacturer rates the module at over 59,000 h (L70).
Installation and wiring
The faceplate is fixed with three screws — ø4.5 mm holes at 120° on a ø100 mm circle — to the supplied housing set into the ground as the instructions describe, or into a prepared opening in timber. The fitting comes with 1 m of H05BQ-F 3G1 cable ending in a THB.391.R4A.L cable connector; the 145 and 146 junction boxes are sold separately. It is protection class I, so it must be connected to the protective earth.
