STRUCTURAL LED 20x20 is a square surface-mounted ceiling light: an aluminium profile lacquered white, 20 cm on a side and 6 cm deep, closed underneath by an opal PMMA diffuser. The fitting screws straight onto the ceiling, so no cut-out and no void above the plasterboard are needed.
How much ceiling it takes
A 20 x 20 cm square standing 6 cm off the ceiling. Those are the figures to set against the place it is going: over a kitchen worktop, in a hallway or on a staircase, 6 cm stays out of the way, and 20 cm is a lit panel about the size of a sheet of A4 seen from below.
The fitting weighs 1 kg, so two plugs in the slab hold it and no extra reinforcement is needed.
The light it gives
The LED module delivers 900 lm at a colour temperature of 3000 K, a warm white. That output covers one zone - a hallway, a dressing room, a stretch of corridor - rather than a whole large room, for which several fittings have to be counted.
The light leaves through an opal PMMA diffuser, the milky pane closing the bottom of the profile. The diodes are not visible through it as points, so from below the fitting reads as one continuous lit surface rather than a grid.
What is in the box and how it connects
The light source is built in and comes with the fitting, and so does the driver: the maker lists both as included in the package. Neither a lamp nor a control gear has to be bought with it, and the fitting wires straight into a 230 V supply.
A built-in module also means there is no thread and no cap to unscrew inside the fitting. Changing the light source is not a user operation.
Finish and the second version
The body is an aluminium profile, lacquered white in this version. The maker also builds the same model in natural brushed aluminium under the number R13708, so if white does not match the other fittings in the room there is a ready alternative with the same dimensions and the same figures.
