STEINEL IR Quattro 8m COM2 is a white passive-infrared presence detector for concealed ceiling wiring. Article 000356 is intended for indoor use and has a square 4 × 4 m presence-detection zone, covering 16 m². Its plastic housing measures 120 × 120 × 76 mm, so these dimensions should be checked against the available ceiling position before installation.
Detection and mounting position
The detector has a 360° detection angle. Its radial reach is 5 × 5 m and tangential reach is 7 × 7 m; STEINEL specifies 1,760 switching zones. The square detection zone can be scaled mechanically, allowing the monitored area to be adapted without changing the device. The recommended mounting-height range is 2.5–8 m, with 2.8 m stated as optimal. These details are useful when planning control for a small office, meeting room, service room or utility room.
COM2 interface and control
The COM2 version is designed to switch lighting and HVAC installations on and off. It supports normal and test modes, semi-automatic or fully automatic operation, push-button or switch mode, and manual ON or ON/OFF operation. Twilight response can be set from 10 to 1,000 lx and the time setting from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. Settings are available through DIP switches, potentiometers, a remote control or Smart Remote; a remote control is not declared as included.
Installation-related facts
IR Quattro requires a 230 V / 50–60 Hz supply and is rated IP20. The manufacturer specifies it for indoors; IP20 does not provide the protection required for areas exposed to water. The detector can be interconnected by cable in master/master or master/slave arrangements, with up to ten sensors. For LED loads, the manufacturer lists up to 300 W for lamps above 2 W and below 8 W, and up to 600 W for lamps above 8 W. Confirm the connected load against the installation design.
