The Steinel IR Quattro MICRO DALI-2 IPD is a discreet recessed ceiling presence detector for projects where a large visible device would interrupt a clean ceiling plane. Its compact microlens and low-profile construction keep the installation understated while supplying presence and brightness data to a DALI-2 control system.
Coverage designed for ceiling zones
This 360° infrared detector is intended for indoor ceiling installation. At the recommended 2.8 m mounting height, it detects presence across up to 16 m² and motion across up to 36 m². The square detection pattern is useful when defining practical control zones in offices, meeting rooms, corridors and comparable interior areas.
Technical highlights
- DALI-2 Input Device presence detector for recessed ceiling mounting,
- 360° detection angle with a 2–1000 lx brightness threshold range,
- 15 × 15 mm microlens and a ceiling opening of up to Ø 35 mm,
- overall dimensions: 12 × 9 × 7.5 cm,
- IP65 protection rating and a five-year manufacturer warranty.
Part of a DALI automation scheme
The sensor communicates and receives power through the DALI line, with commissioning performed through a compatible DALI Application Controller. Presence and brightness values can be queried by that controller; the DALI-2 standard also supports automatic or time-based cyclic transmission. This makes the MICRO a considered choice for unobtrusive, zone-based lighting control rather than a standalone mains-powered switch.
Installation notes
Plan for recessed ceiling installation with at least 120 mm installation depth. Electrical work should be undertaken by a qualified installer. Once fitted, the small lens remains visually restrained; when needed, it can be cleaned with a damp cloth without cleaning agents.
