TOCUYO - a round LED wall light with a crescent of light

TOCUYO is a small wall light of purely geometric form: a round base plate against the wall and a second, solid disc suspended in front of it. The two circles are offset, so a narrow crescent-shaped slot remains open along part of the rim - and that is where the light comes out. Looked at head-on, neither the diode nor a bright point is visible; all you see is the lit crescent and the glow spilling onto the wall around it.

How it lights

The built-in LED module draws 5 W and delivers 247 lm at 3000 K, a warm white close to the light of a classic incandescent bulb. That output is on the level of a traditional 25 W bulb - TOCUYO is a decorative, atmospheric fitting rather than a light to read or work by. It earns its place where a soft accent is wanted: a marker beside a bed, a point along a hallway, a gentle wash on a living-room wall. With the diode hidden behind the disc there is no glare in the field of view, which matters most when the fitting is mounted low.

Light source

The light source is included and permanently built in - the manufacturer describes it as an integrated LED, so the fitting has no lampholder or cap and no bulb is changed in it. The colour temperature is fixed at 3000 K with no adjustment. The wall light runs on 230 V.

Dimensions, material and installation

The fitting is 14 cm in diameter and projects 7 cm from the wall. The body is aluminium painted white - a matt white that merges into a pale wall, so by day the fitting almost disappears and by evening only the crescent of light is left of it. The IP20 rating restricts TOCUYO to dry interiors. It mounts directly onto a wall box.

Where it works best

At 14 cm across and 7 cm deep, TOCUYO takes up no room, so it fits where a larger wall light would be in the way: above a bedside table, along a narrow hallway, beside a flight of stairs, or in a row on a living-room wall. Its gentle output takes well to being installed in series - several fittings give an even, continuous wash rather than isolated bright patches.
