V-TAC VT-7788 LED ceiling light black 12W 1280lm 3000K two twisted bars 94.5 cm

VT-7788 is a black V-TAC LED ceiling light 94.5 cm long: two slim bars, twisted along their axis, crossing over an oval base. 12 W, 1280 lm, 3000 K.

A metre of light six centimetres deep

The fitting stretches almost a metre yet stands only 6 cm off the ceiling. That is the answer for rooms where a drop is out of the question — corridors, bedrooms, the space over a sideboard or a worktop in a flat of ordinary height. Both bars are twisted about their own axis, so the lit edge changes angle along the whole length: from one position you see a bright ribbon, from another a thin line. It is worth aligning it with a run of furniture or a wall, because the form is directional and looks accidental set across a room.

The figures that usually go unpublished

EPREL registration 1498873 allows this fitting to be described more precisely than the catalogue sheet does. Efficacy works out at roughly 107 lm/W, a good result for a decorative fitting. But colour consistency is declared at SDCM 6 — meaning two units mounted side by side may differ in their shade of white visibly to the naked eye, so if a pair is bought it is worth taking them from one batch. R9, which describes the rendering of deep red, is 12 against a CRI above 80: warm colours will look right, but saturated red will go flat.

What it suits, and what it does not

Measured flicker is Pst LM 1.0 and SVM 0.9 — both sit at the limit the regulations allow. For circulation and mood lighting that is immaterial; over a desk worked at for hours, or anywhere video is filmed, a fitting with lower figures is the better choice. A power factor of 0.7 also means an installation loaded with many of these draws more apparent current than the sum of the watts suggests — irrelevant in a flat, less so in a scheme with several dozen.

Integrated LED and installation

The diodes are not replaceable: the module is built in permanently, and the declared 20,000 hours is about 18 years at three hours a day. The fitting is not dimmable, so it must not go on a circuit with a wall dimmer. The 220-240 V, 50 Hz supply runs straight into the oval base, and IP20 confines the whole thing to dry rooms. Energy class F. Shipping weight is 0.79 kg, so the fixing needs no special anchors — only to land properly in the ceiling or its structure.
