Wakefield medium outdoor wall lantern IP44 - 1 light source E27 - Earth Black Elstead

Wakefield is an outdoor wall lantern by the American brand Quoizel, distributed by Elstead Lighting, in the medium of the series' sizes. The body is made of weather-resistant composite in a slightly textured Earth Black finish, with a stepped roof. Seeded glass panels sit in a double frame, a frame within a frame that gives the lantern depth.

Size and mounting on the facade

The lantern is 35.7 cm high and 22.2 cm wide, projects 24.8 cm from the wall and weighs 2.68 kg. Compare the height with the space beside your door; next to a standard door frame a lantern of this size usually hangs at eye level or slightly above.

The backplate is flat, so the fitting mounts on a flat wall. For a building corner the manufacturer offers a separately sold corner bracket, C-BKT2-BLACK. Protection class I requires an earth connection.

Weather resistance

The IP44 rating means protection against water splashing from any direction, so the lantern can hang outdoors on a wall exposed to rain. The manufacturer rates the composite body for the toughest coastal conditions, where salty air damages ordinary metal fittings, and gives it a 5 year guarantee.

Choosing the bulb

Inside is one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W; no bulb is included. The glass is clear, so the bulb is visible, and a decorative filament bulb suits this form. Elstead recommends a clear, dimmable 8 W E27 A60 LED bulb with 800 lm at 3000 K, giving warm light as bright as an old 60 W bulb. The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs.

Quoizel combines Arts and Crafts design with vintage styling here. The manufacturer intends the lantern for facades as well as for venues such as hotels and restaurants.
