Gea Luce GES981C is a white LED step light mounted on the surface of a wall. Its square face combines a broad upper band with a recessed plane below the light opening. The housing is die-cast aluminium, the diffuser is polycarbonate, and the integrated LED module is included.
Local light along outdoor steps
The manufacturer specifies this variant as an outdoor marker light. It can mark steps leading to a terrace, a passage along a façade or a masonry boundary wall, provided there is a suitable mounting surface. Its 130 lm output should be considered local illumination rather than a replacement for a floodlight covering an entire driveway. Choose the spacing and number of fittings to suit the actual steps and distances instead of assuming one fitting will cover the whole route.
The 3 W LED produces warm white light at 3000 K. Gea Luce describes the distribution as indirect and specifies a 120° beam angle. The recessed face distinguishes the fitting from an exposed flat luminous panel, but this does not establish glare-free performance from every viewing position.
Surface mounting and on/off operation
The assembly instructions show a base screwed to the wall with the housing fitted over it. This matters when comparing the GES981C with lights requiring a recess in the masonry. A qualified installer must make the 220–240 V connection with the mains supply isolated. The fitting is not dimmable: it operates by switching on and off, so it is not a choice for a scheme requiring continuous brightness adjustment.
A restrained white architectural detail
Straight edges and the absence of ornament suit modern and minimalist architecture. IP65 provides protection against dust and water jets, not immersion. Follow the manual when cleaning: use a damp soft cloth and mild detergent, keep water and cleaning agents away from cables and electrical components, then gently dry the housing.
