The medium Ziggy is a pendant from Elstead Lighting's own range: a round drum 40.6 cm across made of perforated steel in a geometric lattice pattern, finished in lacquered silver, with a white opal glass inner shade that also closes the fitting at the bottom.
How high to hang it
Four rods are included — two of 152 mm and two of 305 mm — so the height is set during installation by combining them into the length you need. The whole fitting measures from 23.5 cm (without rods) to 117.5 cm. Without rods Ziggy mounts just below the ceiling like a semi-flush light, which helps in rooms with a low ceiling; at full length it can hang over a table so that the bottom of the shade sits 70–80 cm above the top.
A 40.6 cm diameter keeps its proportions over a table 80–90 cm wide. The fitting weighs 5.5 kg, so the ceiling needs a fixing that can carry that weight — on plasterboard it must reach the structure behind.
What light it gives and what you need to buy
The pendant has two E27 sockets, each for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulbs are included. The opal glass diffuses the light and hides the bulbs, so they are not visible from the side or from below. The fitting works with a dimmer if the bulbs used are dimmable.
Construction
The frame is steel, and the ceiling canopy is in the same silver as the shade. It is an indoor Class I fitting, so it must be connected to an earth conductor. The Ziggy series also comes in lacquered gold.
