Ashland Bay bathroom wall light - 3 lights - natural brass Quintiesse

Ashland Bay is a bathroom wall light with three lantern-shaped shades set on a horizontal arm ending in an oval wall plate. The shades are clear glass with air bubbles through it and ribbing across the upper band, and the metal is finished in natural brass — warm and restrained rather than the mirror brightness of the chrome version. The design comes from the Kichler collection, which the Elstead group distributes under the Quintiesse name.

How big it is and how far it stands off the wall

The fitting is 610 mm wide and 206 mm high — a long, low band of light. Compare that width with the width of the mirror or basin top it will hang above; the same range also has one- and two-light versions for a narrower mirror and a four-light one measuring 858 mm.

It projects 166 mm from the wall, which is how far the shades reach out over the counter. It weighs 3,05 kg. The height cannot be adjusted: the light is fixed in place by its oval plate.

What bulbs it needs

The fitting carries three E27 sockets rated up to 60 W each. That is the ceiling per socket, not for the whole light. No bulbs are supplied and there is no integrated LED, so three lamps have to be bought before it will light.

The glass is clear and the bulb stays visible through the shade — how the lamp itself looks is part of how this fitting looks. There is no dimming circuit built in; the maker describes the fitting as compatible with dimmable lamps, so dimming needs both those lamps and a dimmer in the circuit.

Fitting it in a bathroom

The maker intends this light for interiors and for the bathroom, and the IP44 rating covers splashing water from any direction. Do not use it outdoors — the data sheet gives the interior as the only suitable location.

It is a Class I fitting, so it has to be connected to an earth conductor, and it runs straight off a 220–240 V 50 Hz supply. There is no plug and no lead with one, so the connection is a fixed one.
