Beacon Hill medium wall lantern - 2 light sources - Museum black Elstead

The medium Beacon Hill is an outdoor wall lantern by Hinkley, supplied through Elstead Lighting. Its Museum Black aluminium frame surrounds clear glass with a pronounced seeded texture. Two lamp holders sit inside the rectangular glazed body, while the tall shaped roof and decorative loop give this version the appearance of a traditional English wall lantern.

Check the space beside the entrance

This fitting measures 58.4 cm high and 19.8 cm wide, with a projection of 20 cm from the wall. Its proportions are distinctly vertical rather than broad. Before deciding where to mount it, compare the complete height with the available wall area and check the swing of nearby doors or shutters. The projection is also worth considering along a narrow passage, where the lantern should not intrude into the walking route.

The manufacturer specifies exterior use and an IP44 protection rating. Suitable wall positions include an entrance, terrace, balcony or a gazebo with an appropriate mounting surface. Beacon Hill is mains powered: it is not a solar light or a portable lantern that can simply be placed on a table.

Choose two E14 lamps separately

The fitting takes two replaceable E14 lamps, each rated at no more than 40 W. Lamps are not included. Because the glazing is clear, the appearance and shape of the lamps remain part of the visible design. Brightness and colour temperature depend on the sources you choose; this model does not have an integrated LED module with a fixed light specification.

Dimmable lamps are compatible with the fitting. For brightness adjustment, choose lamps and a control that work together. Its Class I construction requires a protective earth connection during installation.

A traditional silhouette with textured glazing

The dark frame outlines the lantern, while the bubbles in the glass distinguish it from fittings with smooth, plain panes. Its classical English character comes from the shaped roof, upper loop and paired candle-style lamp positions. It suits a facade where that historical detail is an intentional part of the design, rather than a discreet minimalist light point.
