Benno is a wall light by Kichler, distributed by Elstead Lighting, with a globe shade of opal glass set on a slim vertical rod. The round wall plate is black, with an inner disc and connector in champagne bronze, so both finishes show at once. The shade is made of cased, milky white opal glass.
Dimensions and mounting
The wall light is 34.8 cm high and 12.8 cm wide, and projects 16.6 cm from the wall. Compare that last figure with the space beside a mirror or in a narrow passage, where the fitting must not get in the way. The manufacturer allows it to be mounted with the globe facing up only, so the arrangement in the main photo is the only one possible. It weighs 0.85 kg and is protection class I, which means it needs an earth connection.
Light and bathroom use
The fitting has a single G9 lampholder, and a 3 W G9 LED lamp with a colour temperature of 3000 K, a warm white, is included. The milky glass spreads the light across the whole globe, so the wall light glows softly without a sharp hot spot. It works with a dimmer when a dimmable G9 lamp is fitted.
The IP44 rating means protection against water splashes from any direction, which is why the manufacturer also intends Benno for bathrooms, for example beside a mirror. It also works in a dining room as a complement to the main lighting.
Style
The clean geometry of globe, rod and round plate, together with black set against warm metallic champagne bronze, gives the wall light a contemporary character. The Benno series also comes in an all champagne bronze version.
