Camillo is a medium outdoor wall lantern by Kichler, distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting. A clear seeded glass cylinder, with small air bubbles in the glass, is surrounded by vertical louvers, and the whole lantern hangs from a rectangular backplate. The aluminium body is painted in Natural Brass – a warm, matt gold tone with no mirror shine.
Size and mounting on the facade
The lantern is 37.5 cm tall and 15.2 cm wide and projects 19.1 cm from the wall. Check that depth next to a door that opens outwards or along a narrow path by the wall. It weighs 2.5 kg.
The manufacturer rates it for exterior use at IP44 – the housing is protected against splashing water from any direction. It is protection class I, so the junction box on the facade must provide an earth conductor. The backplate is flat; for mounting on the corner of a building the manufacturer offers separately sold corner brackets C-BKT2-BROWN and C-BKT2-BLACK.
Which bulb
Inside is one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W, which is not included. The glass is clear, so the bulb stays visible and the bubbles only partly break up its outline – its shape therefore matters to the look. The manufacturer recommends a classic clear E27 LED bulb as a separate accessory. The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs, which is useful with a dimmer or a controlled entrance lighting circuit.
Style and use
The manufacturer describes the Camillo style as luxe industrial: a simple geometric form with louvers and raw glass, softened by the warm brass colour. The lantern is intended for facades and outdoor spaces, for example beside the front door. The Camillo family also includes a textured black version.
